Camera scanning

The camera cannot read a vial label

Cryovial labels are unusually small, curved and often frosted. Do not warm a specimen solely to make the app scan it. Keep or return it to the cold-handling conditions required by the lab’s cryogenic SOP.

  1. If the lab’s approved handling procedure permits another scan attempt, keep the printed bars or code square to the camera.
  2. Use even light and keep other labeled vials outside the aiming frame.
  3. If it still will not read, type the printed value or use the lab’s validated hardware scanner.
